Cancer Fatigue, RSO, Upcoming Events!

June 9-15

Cancer Baddies Meeting Recap

Welcome new members & everyone who has hit recent treatment milestones šŸŽ‰šŸ’–

Hereā€™s what you missed:

  • Treatment fatigue - weā€™ve all been there, the inability to keep your eyes open for more than a few hours each day due to chemo/radiation side effects. The beginning is sometimes the worst because your body is acclimating to all the meds. I started using Encer towards the end of my treatment and it was a game changer. It is a homeopathic supplement that was approved by my doctor and trial team that you take 2-3x a day (treatment weeks 3x/daily). Encer got rid of my chemo fatigue and allowed me to have more energy throughout the day. It also eliminated the nausea and vomiting associated with Kadcyla.

  • Avoiding anti-nausea medication - I get it, we take so many meds for treatment, those of us who rarely took medicine in their lives prior to cancer want to limit adding more medications to the list. BUT when it comes to nausea, there is nothing worse than feeling sick. Yes, most anti-nausea meds cause constipation but I noticed when I switched to dissolvable Zofran, it treated the nausea quicker and I didnā€™t really have much constipation. If you are open to cannabisšŸƒ, Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) is a great alternative to treating side effects naturally. You will have to check with dispensaries in your area to see if it is available. Start with Ā½ a grain of rice on a cracker and wait 1-2 hours for it to take effect. RSO helped me maintain an appetite, got rid of metal mouth and allowed me to sleep and feel less crumby on treatment weeks.

  • Oral Gel vs Magic Mouthwash: Just as effective, but cheaper price for chemo mouth sores.

Our next meeting on June 26 will be an event with Dr. Aimee Anagnostos: Pelvic PT 101. See below for details!
