Week 2 of 23 Days of Awareness Complete!

23 Days of Awareness — Week 2 ✅ !

We just finished week 2 of our 23 Days of Awareness series on our Instagram. Have you checked in yet?

We’re sharing educational content, tips, community stories and early detection tools to help save more lives. Make sure to follow, like and share our content so we can continue to grow 💚

This Wednesday, we had Doctors Ashley Henneghan and Kathleen Van Dyk lead an event on cognitive impairment within advanced breast cancer patients. They are working to improve education for doctors and treatment options for patients.

They brought up the concept of being mentally spent vs physically spent and I’ve never related more to something. When dealing with “chemo brain” or fatigue from treatment, everything feels challenging:

Trying to remember why you walked into a room, finding that word that was just on the tip of your tongue, activities taking 10x longer than they used to, the mental gymnastics it takes to show up to work, etc. etc.

Life during and after cancer is hard. And each day you pray and wonder when it will get easier. Some days feel harder than others, and the easy days don’t come around very often, but one thing I know is that you have to keep holding out hope that things WILL get better. Because what is the other option? Giving up?

Find the glimmers in life that keep you alive. The people, places and things that light you up. Say no to things that exhaust you and do more of the soul-filling-inner-child-healing kinda to-dos.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what life is about anyways, right?
