CB Weekly Recap

Cancer Baddie’s Meeting Recap 5/15

Welcome, Angela 💖 + 🎉Congrats to Tracy & Tam on finishing chemo, Gabi on finishing radiation and Erika for a successful lumpectomy!

  • Being a mom during treatment - How to minimize trauma for your kids seeing you sick, recommendation to join moms w/ cancer Facebook groups!

  • Celebrate losing hair as a ceremony w/ loved ones - Instead of waiting for hair to fall out or the sadness of shaving your head alone, schedule a hair shaving ceremony with loved ones to celebrate this milestone!

  • Radiation pain - hyperbaric oxygen chamber? More pain meds? A&D ointment (ask your doctor)

  • Eliminating brain fog - do things that require using your brain (learn a new language, brain games, chess, etc), use notes/sticky notes, set timers!

  • Diarrhea w/ Chemo - combine Immodium + lomoditl (ask your doctor) for combined benefits, get regular hydration drips at your hospital post-chemo to rehydrate

🍋PRODUCT OF THE WEEK🍋

Enterade

NGL I hated Enterade because I got the wrong flavor (vanilla, yuck) but Enterade can help heal any GI issues caused by chemo + treatment. It can help with nausea, diarrhea, dehydration and weight management. There are multiple flavors and the best part, they can offer reimbursement for your purchase.

💪🏽WELLNESS TIP OF THE WEEK💪🏽

Cedars Sinai Cancer Rehab (LA-based Only)

If you are finishing treatment soon or have finished treatment and are based in LA, Cedars has an amazing Cancer Rehab Facilitation Program that provides assistance as you re-emerge into society. They offer nutrition classes, personal training, brain fog classes, art therapy, and more! Speak to your doctor to be added to the wait list.

🎵TREATMENT SONG OF THE WEEK🎵

IDK about you but I feel this in my body & makes me want to move. Pop on some headphones & pop off! Get that energy flowin!

🗓UPCOMING EVENTS🗓

🌟WED MAY 22 - 5:30pm PST: Navigating Cancer Grief w/ Dr. Julie Shaw

Join us on Wed May 22, 5:30pm PST, as Dr. Julie Shaw helps us navigate the loss of cancer and the grief associated with this journey. Most doctors and healthcare providers don't have the time or resources to help prepare us for losing the life we once had. It is a slow realization process of understanding that a lot of the emotional distress we experience is due to grieving our old life. Dr. Shaw is also a cancer survivor and understands first-hand how cancer can greatly impact your life.

This event is donation-based. The suggested donation is $5 but if you cannot afford a donation at this time, please come anyways! All are welcome.

Spots are limited, SIGN UP HERE!

Going through chemo soon and unsure of what to expect? Well GOOD NEWS, I wrote a book just for you! I shared all the in’s and out’s of chemotherapy: what to expect, side effects, all things cold capping (and where to get a scholarship), egg freezing, and all the mindset tools to help you on your cancer journey.
