Easy Spirit + Shoes for a Cure

When I went through chemotherapy, I made exercise a very big part of my treatment plan. My goal was to feel as strong as possible and prevent as much muscle loss. My healthy lifestyle prior to cancer really helped make this goal relatively attainable.

I was working out 3-4x per week and feeling great for the first few months of treatment.

But as you know, the more chemo you do, the harder it gets. Around round 5, I started slowing down and my workouts were down to once a week with lots of mini walks throughout the day.

It was important that I listened to my body and rested as needed and pushed when I could. Consistent walking really saved me both, physically and mentally. No one talks about the feeling of being trapped at home in a sick house that constantly reminds you that you’re unwell. Walking was a way to clear my head, break a sweat and feel stronger, help with nausea and fatigue and to distract myself from the bored thoughts.

Having good walking shoes was very important to ensure I was comfortable outside the house and that I had a reliable shoe to support me. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Easy Spirit has committed to being a valued partner of Shoes for a Cure; a charitable organization directly funding leading breast cancer research in the US.

Easy Spirit has created a #MoveforPink limited edition Maxine Walking Shoe ($99), designed to raise awareness and funds on the organizations behalf. Easy Spirit will donate a portion of proceeds from its #MoveForPink Maxine Walking Shoe to Shoes For a Cure.

The walking shoe uses EMOVE Technology for superior cushioning, maximum support, shock absorption, breathable, lightweight, and orthotic friendly.
