You're not the Same Person Anymore

So What's Changed?

I Don’t Know the Pre-Cancer Me Anymore

The moment you were diagnosed, everything changed. The life you knew and the person you had become is an entirely different person than who you are today.

Cancer changes you. Your mindset, reality, relationships, career, body, what you’re grateful for, the reason you get up in the morning, literally everything. Cancer touches every aspect of your life.

What doctor’s don’t tell you upon diagnosis is that cancer is one big grieving process. Grieving the life you had, the person you were and everything that was taken from you the moment your doctor uttered, “You have cancer.”

We spend so much of our treatment days asking the big question, “Why did this happen?” Most of us probably did not want our life to change this drastically.

For me, it was especially hard because I was finally reaching the peak of my fitness career and hitting levels of success that I had been praying for all my life. When cancer came in and took everything I had built, I was angry, confused and felt betrayed by my own body.

BUT the changes that cancer provides are for your betterment.

You become softer, more grateful, you slow down, you see life through a new lens and there is an unwavering strength about you.

You lose old relationships that no longer serve you and sometimes leave the people in your life uncomfortable with your own cancer reality.

We spoke about this Tuesday night in our CB call and what we sometimes forget is that cancer is often too heavy for people to carry. The weight of their own lives may already be too unbearable that holding space for you, when you need it most, is not in their capacity.

So what do we do? We outgrow these relationships and find the people who can love and support us, no questions asked.

You, my friend, are a completely different person. A more loving, beautiful, undeniably strong fighter, who deserves it all.

Maybe you’re just starting your journey and are already seeing the changes on the horizon. Welcome them.

Yes you have changed. And you’re more beautiful than ever.

XO, Amanda

Cancer Baddies Call Recap

Topics we covered:

  • Loneliness - doing this alone is exhausting and lonely. Are there local support/event groups you can join?

  • Toxic Positivity - being positive is great, but some days we need to scream and cry and allow the positivity to go out the window. We’re going through cancer dammit, this sucks!

  • How Cancer Changes you and Relationships

  • Setting Boundaries

  • LA Meetup - If you’re in the LA area and want to meet IRL, fill out this FORM

  • Next meeting will be on Jan 24 with Leo Max, hypnotherapist. There are only 50 slots available so register ASAP! Event is donation-based, provide as little or as much as you are comfortable. This will allow for more amazing guests to make an appearance each month! See details below.

🎵TREATMENT SONG OF THE WEEK🎵

If you have not watched American Symphony on Netflix, I highly recommend. Renowned musician Jon Batiste and wife/author, Suleika Jaouad, see career success while Suleika’s cancer returns.

🗓UPCOMING EVENTS🗓

🌟WED JAN 24 - 5:30pm PST: Leo Max, Hypnotherapist

Leo Max is a spiritual hypnotherapist based in Los Angeles, California. Leo specializes in deep dives into the subconscious where a person can explore their innermost selves and connect all of the dots.

He believes the stories we hold onto in our minds become the stories expressed by our bodies. When the story is completed, the body heals with it.

Leo's mission is to bring the soul and our multidimensional selves back into therapy. Each part of us is important and plays a role in our healing. No stone is left unturned in a session with Leo and is always a journey to remember.

This will be a very special session, make sure to book early (only 50 spots)!
